Two weeks after injuring his ankle in the Orange Bowl against Clemson, Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine underwent successful surgery on Monday.
Oklahoma said in a release that Perine sustained ligament damage in his left ankle.
“Samaje had surgery on his ankle to fix a ligament he injured in the Orange Bowl,” Sooners head coach Bob Stoops said. “Everything went well and we expect a complete and full recovery.”
Stoops said Perine, who just finished his sophomore year, will miss spring practice as he rehabilitates the ankle.
Perine, who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown against the Tigers, finished the season with 1,349 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also registered 15 receptions for 107 yards and a score.
