Max Browne likes his chances to be USC's starting quarterback.
Browne, a junior, was Cody Kessler's backup in 2015. He's competing with three other quarterbacks to be the Trojans' starter in 2016 and told the Los Angeles Times that he's acting like the frontrunner for the spot.
"I'm older, I've been here longer and have had more reps," Browne told the Times. "I'm taking the mind-set that it's my job to lose, but at the end of the day it's the coach's decision."
Browne has 11 competions on 19 attempts for his career. He's thrown for 143 yards and no touchdowns and no interceptions. He's competing with Sam Darnold, Matt Fink and Jalen Greene, a former receiver, for the starting job. Fink was an early enrollee in the class of 2016. He was rated a three-star dual-threat quarterback by Rivals and the No. 98 prospect in the state of California.

USC coach Clay Helton said he'll name a starter this spring if one of the four separates himself from the rest of the group.
"If the gap is close and there is some progress that can be made, then we'll take it into fall camp," Helton said.
