Thursday was a slow day in the world of college football. Aside from the usual spring football happenings, the most notable bit of news came out of Starkville, where it was announced that Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen has been added to the NCAA’s football oversight committee.
The oversight committee is responsible for suggesting and implementing worthwhile changes to college football. In an interview with ESPN.com, Mullen indicated it's a responsibility he takes seriously.
"It's a great honor for me," Mullen told ESPN.com. "One of the most important things is to try to bring the voice of coaches or how coaches are going to approach things. As a coach, everyone gets in a very competitive mindset. You have to put that aside and look at what's best for the game."

The folks in Lubbock have to be excited about the continued progression of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' game. Take a look at these flashy throws from a recent Texas Tech practice:
Ever since he arrived on campus in 2013, Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck's favorite mantra has been "row the boat." He takes it quite seriously:
You're making us hungry, coach.

Elsewhere, Duke received its Pinstripe Bowl hardware for knocking off Indiana:
The case relating former Oklahoma and NFL head coach Barry Switzer to a Ponzi scheme came to an end Thursday, with a judge ruling in Switzer's favor.
The scheme in question was orchestrated by a partner of former Georgia head coach Jim Donnan, who was cleared of any wrongdoing in 2014.
Let's end Thursday's Social Hour on a high note. How does a random visit to LSU by television personality Regis Philbin sound?
Philbin is a big Notre Dame fan, so we can't help but wonder if he talked some trash to LSU coach Les Miles about the Irish's Music City Bowl win over the Tigers in 2014.
