A handful of Wisconsin athletes decided to shave their heads over the weekend.
It wasn’t a reaction to the impending warm weather or a dramatic style decision. It was for a good cause – to support pediatric cancer patients at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison.

For a third straight year, Wisconsin athletics held its Badgers Go Bald event Friday at Camp Randall Stadium. Four football players, including expected starting quarterback Bart Houston, participated alongside team members from rowing, wrestling, women’s golf and women’s track and field. Associate athletic director Chris McIntosh also received a fresh cut.

The day wasn’t just about the haircuts, either. According to UWBadgers.com, the athletes accompanied the children at a lunch, a tour of the athletic facilities – including the football locker room – and to the field at Camp Randall.

"Sometimes you just go through the motions and take it for granted," Houston said. "Running out on the field was never more exciting than watching them do it. They had just pure joy and it's fun to see."
