Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis undoubtedly caught the attention of the folks in Knoxville during SEC Media Days on Monday.

When asked about the Gators’ success against Tennessee in recent years, Davis wasn’t afraid to jab at UF’s SEC East counterparts.

“It’s one of the funnest games every year,” Davis said per ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

Why?

“Because we win – you can go ahead and say it,” Davis quipped.

He has a point. Davis has never lost to Tennessee during his career. In fact, the Gators, the 2015 SEC East champions, are riding an 11-game winning streak in the series coming off last year’s 28-27 comeback win in Gainesville.

Both teams – Tennessee especially – have a significant amount of hype behind them and are considered to be the top of the crop in the East. That Sept. 24 showdown in Knoxville is already highly anticipated and players from both sides have been engaging in social media trash talk for much of the offseason.

Davis’ comment only raises the stakes.
