Tyrann Mathieu says Denver’s Danny Trevathan was mimicking his 2011 SEC title game TD celebration

You have to appreciate Tyrann Mathieu's sense of humor.

The former LSU cornerback and Arizona Cardinals rookie had a quick reply for Denver's Danny Trevathan after Trevathan's mess-up during the fourth quarter of the Broncos' game against Baltimore Thursday night.

After returning an interception seemingly for a TD, Trevathan dropped the ball at the one yard line. The ball rolled out of the end zone for a touchback, and Baltimore retained possession. (The potential TD didn't matter, Denver rolled Baltimore 49-27.)

In the 2011 SEC Championship game against Georgia, Mathieu returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown. It counted, but replays showed that Mathieu had flipped the ball to the line judge at the pylon before he crossed the goal line. (LSU won the game 42-10.)

So after Trevathan's play, Mathieu quickly found a screenshot of his move and cracked that Trevathan was simply mimicking him. But maybe Mathieu was mimicking DeSean Jackson? Jackson's drop against Dallas happened in 2008.

That SEC title game season, Mathieu was a Heisman finalist. But after entering rehab after failed drug tests, missed the 2012 season. He was chosen by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft.
