Illinois coach Tim Beckman and Bill Cubit weren't on the same page after their team surrendered a safety.
Beckman and his offensive coordinator had an obvious disagreement after Rielly O'Toole was sacked and fumbled into the end zone for a safety that gave Ohio State a 37-21 lead in the third quarter.
The play happened on third down and O'Toole was only in the game after starting quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase was forced to leave the game because his helmet came off on the previous play. Per NCAA rules, if a player's helmet comes off during a play, he must leave the game for a play.
Before Illinois had the ball, the Illini had stopped Ohio State and kept the game at two scores after trailing 35-14 at halftime. Should Illinois had instead run a draw and played for the punt? Any perceived momentum that it had went out the window with the safety, as Ohio State immediately scored a touchdown after getting the ball back.
