For the first time in over three years, Kansas won a Big 12 game.

It had been since a November 6, 2010 win over Colorado that the Jayhawks had lost won a conference matchup before knocking off West Virginia, 31-19, snapping a 27-game streak.

To put the win in perspective, Colorado has not been in the Big 12 since officially joining the Pac-12 in July of 2011. West Virginia was still in the Big East at the time.

Thousands of Jayhawks fans stormed the field embracing players and coaches before tearing down a goalpost in celebration. On top of that, coach Charlie Weis received a traditional Gatorade bath.

Jayhawks running back James Sims was dominant in the win, breaking runs of 62 and 68 yards while racking up 211 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries.

The Mountaineers (4-7, 2-6) took a 7-0 lead on its first possession, but the Kansas defense shut WVU down for most of the game before two meaningless touchdowns in garbage time.

The win snapped a six-game losing streak for the Jayhawks (3-7, 1-6), who will travel to Iowa State next Saturday.
