Clemson suffered a scare Thursday night when star quarterback Tajh Boyd was sidelined with a collarbone injury, but during a conference call Monday, coach Dabo Swinney said that Boyd is “fine.” Swinney told reporters that Boyd will practice fully as the Tigers prepare for the season’s final home game against Citadel.
“He could've come back in the game against Georgia Tech,” Swinney said.
Boyd set an ACC record for passing touchdowns and threw for 340 yards before landing hard on his left shoulder when scrambling in the third quarter. He remained down on the field before he heading to the locker room where x-rays revealed that he had no broken bones. With the game in hand, coaches opted to keep Boyd out of the game.
With Boyd not missing any time, Clemson may have the inside track to represent the ACC in the Orange Bowl with Florida State looking like a likely participant in the BCS title game.
