According to oddsmakers, it's Jameis Winston's Heisman Trophy to lose.
The Florida State quarterback is the overwhelming favorite for the Heisman with two weeks to go in the regular season. Winston currently has 4/11 betting odds at the Bovada Sportsbook, while Johnny Manziel is second at 5/2.
After Manziel's win last year, Winston would become the second consecutive redshirt freshman to win the award. And if Manziel wins, he'd make history too, becoming the first back-to-back winner since Archie Griffin.
Winston's status could change if anything proceeds from the reports that emerged last week that he was the subject of a sexual battery complaint from December 2012. On Monday, Winston's attorney was critical of the Florida state attorney and the delay in the case, which was turned over to the state attorney from the Tallahassee Police Department last week.
Alabama's AJ McCarron is third at 13/2 while Baylor's Bryce Petty is at 10/1. The most notable name off the board is Marcus Mariota, who has a 25-0 touchdown to interception ratio. It stands to reason that Mariota's Heisman hopes improved after Stanford was knocked off by USC, but he's still a distant longshot to even go to New York for the ceremony according to Vegas.
Winston's Seminoles are still the second favorite for the BCS National Championship as well. FSU's odds have improved from 7/4 to 8/5. Alabama is still the 1/1 favorite for the title, while Baylor's odds have actually decreased from 4/1 to 7/1 despite its thrashing of Texas Tech. So did Ohio State's; the Buckeyes have fallen from 17/2 to 20/1.
