Jabrill Peppers, the No. 2 ranked prospect in the Rivals Class of 2014, may have a change of plans.
Peppers, a Michigan commit, tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he will take some official visits to schools following his season.
"Imma take a couple Officials after the season myself," the tweet read.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound cornerback from Paramus, New Jersey verbally committed to Brady Hoke and Michigan in late May, choosing the Wolverines over a long list of schools that included Ohio State, LSU, Penn State, Stanford, UCLA and Alabama.
Peppers released a statement that he still committed to Michigan, but that he wants to make sure he has other options.
"I am still 100% committed to the University of Michigan and that is the place where I want to go to college. With the rumors about Coach Hoke possibly not being there I need to make sure that I have options and have seen other places. For the sake of my future I need to make sure I have other options. No need to look into it any further. Go Blue and beat TDS," Peppers said.
The loss of Peppers would be a tough blow for Michigan after the Wolverines missed out on Rivals No. 1 recruit Da’Shawn Hand, who committed to Alabama. Peppers, a friend of Hand’s, was reportedly trying to lure Hand to Ann Arbor. Alabama could certainly be in the running for one of Peppers’ visits.
Additionally, since taking over as head coach at Michigan, Hoke has held a policy that discourages Michigan pledges from visiting other schools.
Prospects can officially sign National Letters of Intent on Feb. 5.
