It’s finally here – the final week of the regular season.
And it couldn’t be any more exciting.
We have several games this week that not only will determine the outcomes of various leagues, but some games could even determine the national championship.
But before we get to this week, here’s a look at what you might have missed from last week:
This team blew its chance at a possible national title:
While this team got a little breathing room:
This guy blew his Heisman chances:
As did this one:
And this one:
This quarterback had his career end in disappointing fashion:
And this one set an NCAA record:
OK, that’s your review. Here’s what to watch in Week 14:
Game of the week:
No. 1 Alabama at No. 4 Auburn, 3:30 p.m. ET
Fans have been waiting two weeks for what many consider to be the biggest game between these two schools in recent history. The winner not only will play for the SEC title, but also has a chance to play for the national championship. This game will center around whether the Alabama defense can limit the Auburn running game and force quarterback Nick Marshall to be a pocket passer. It the Tide can do that, it should control this game.
Game to watch:
No. 21 Texas A&M at No. 5 Missouri, 7:45 p.m. ET
The Aggies are in spoiler mode in the final game of the season as they have a chance to ruin Missouri's chance for an SEC East title; the Tigers must win to advance to the SEC title game. Missouri has one of the best defenses A&M has faced this season, but the Tigers haven't seen a quarterback as nimble as Johnny Manziel. Manziel had a miserable game against LSU last week and it's hard to see the reigning Heisman Trophy winner have two stumbles in a row. Still, Missouri has been strong on both offense and defense this season and the Aggies are 0-3 against ranked teams this season.
Also check out…
Bowling Green at Buffalo, 1:30 p.m. ET, Friday
It's fortuitous that these teams should meet in the final day of the season because the winner will earn the right to face Northern Illinois in the MAC title game. Bowling Green is among the nation's best at keeping teams out if the end zone, but the Buffalo offense has been tough scoring at least 30 points in each of it's last eight games, including more than 40 points in five of those contests.
Keep an eye on:
Andre Williams, RB, Boston College
Most people didn't know who Andre Williams was until his named started to surface as a Heisman candidate. Williams is the nation's leading rusher with more than 2,000 yards, but he'll have his work cut out for him against a Syracuse defense that has allowed fewer than 100 rushing yards in three of it's last four games. If he can have another strong rushing performance, he'll be a shoo-in for New York.
Upset alert:
Duke (+6) at North Carolina, 12 p.m. ET
Duke is having a season for the ages. It is one win away from wrapping up the ACC Coastal title and a date with Florida State in the title game. Duke is also a win away from setting a school record with 10 wins and has won seven consecutive games for the first time since 1994. But achieving all of these goals won't be easy against a North Carolina team that has played inspired football in the past few weeks. The Tar Heels have rallied around new starting quarterback Marquise Williams and have won five straight to become bowl eligible.
