Per SB Nation, Mississippi State said the student underwent surgery for the compound fracture Thursday night. The Bulldogs beat Ole Miss 17-10 in overtime after missing a chance to win the game in regulation after a missed field goal attempt. The game was televised on ESPN.
Because of the win, Mississippi State finished the season 6-6 and will go to a bowl game.
The incident with the cart happened in the fourth quarter. This mascot injury is less than a week after KC Wolf, the mascot for the Kansas City Chiefs, suffered serious injuries practicing for a skit before the Chiefs' game against the San Diego Chargers.
Earlier in November, Rocky, the Denver Nuggets mascot, passed out as he was being lowered to the floor from the rafters.
