Some USC fans are cringing.

After it was reported that former Trojan coach Lane Kiffin was in Tuscaloosa to help Nick Saban evaluate his Alabama offense, Saban confirmed that Kiffin was in Tuscaloosa and you know, he's got no idea why you would be cringing, Trojan fans.

"There's only a few people out there that you have an opportunity to do it with," Saban said at his Tuesday media availability. "Lane is a really good offensive coach and I have a tremendous amount of respect for him."

Saban said that getting "some professional ideas with our guys is a real positive thing."

"Just to come in and brainstorm a little bit, get some professional ideas with our guys is a real positive thing, so I don't know why there's any reaction to it to be honest with you. I'm really quite surprised."

Is Saban really quite surprised? Probably not. He knows the reaction and what happened involving Kiffin's departure at USC. He just doesn't want you to know that he knows.

And there's no downside to bringing in Kiffin either. He can help Alabama find some things to exploit in the Oklahoma defense or try in the future, or if he doesn't, Alabama just goes on its business like before.

For Kiffin's benefit, getting in good with the man considered to be the gold standard of college coaches isn't a bad idea either. Who knows where it'll lead.
