A 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Florida State’s Levonte Whitfield gave Auburn its first deficit of the game in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers – led by Heisman finalist Tre Mason – responded quickly.

Three Mason runs and a few passes by Nick Marshall drove the Tigers down to the Florida State 37 with less than two minutes to go. Then Mason did this:

,

Mason busted through the line and bounced off several would-be-tacklers into the end zone for the go-ahead score with 1:19 to go in the ballgame.

As Mason came off the field and went to the sideline, he saw a camera in front of him, and with Heisman winner Jameis Winston on the other sideline, Mason did his own Heisman pose.

Winston, however, got the last laugh as the redshirt freshman led the Seminoles down the field in just seven plays to retake the lead on a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin to win the BCS National Championship, 34-31.

Mason finished the game with 34 carries for 195 yards and that one touchdown.
