After previously winning three national titles in four years, Alabama ended its season in an unfamiliar fashion for a Nick Saban team, losing back-to-back games for the first time since 2008 – Saban’s second season as head coach.
Both losses were costly. The loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl cost the team a chance to play for the conference title and the Tide uncharacteristically gave up 45 points in the Sugar Bowl loss to Oklahoma to end the year.
Saban, being the master motivator that he has proven to be, is using those losses to fire his team up this offseason in preparation for the 2014 campaign. A sign that reads “if you continue to do the same thing that you have always done you will get the same result. Guarenteed. 0-2.” is apparently hanging up in the Alabama locker room.

That is a sentiment he shared when speaking at the AFCA convention in Indianapolis Monday.

Saban expects excellence out of his players and certainly does not want his team to end another promising season with back-to-back losses again.
