This seems really odd coming from a player at a football-crazed school like Alabama.
Alabama RB Kenyan Drake tweeted Monday that "most girls" like basketball more than football. Here's his reasoning:

But don't worry, he didn't imply anything about sports intelligence.

One of the reasons for the explosion in popularity of football is the rise of fantasy football and the ability to show multiple replays between plays. Because of football's stop-and-start nature, you can make an extremely convincing argument that it's easier for anyone to follow at a basic level than basketball is.
But even if Drake believes the opposite of that argument, the support at Alabama would be plenty of evidence to counter his point. Look at the attention devoted to Alabama football compared to Alabama basketball. Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. seats over 100,000. The Coleman Coliseum seats 15,383. What sells out on a more regular basis?
According to the Football Foundation, 39 percent of college football fans are women. Bryant-Denny isn't full of strictly males, either.
Was Drake basing his tweets off of bandwagoning female fans? Perhaps. He's from Georgia, and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Miami Heat Monday night. But that's no reason to attempt to cast a brutally untrue stereotype. Maybe all the female fans at Bryant-Denny should feign ignorance and stay silent when Drake scores his first home touchdown of 2014.
