Rashaan Evans is one of the most coveted recruits in the country. With National Signing Day just two days away, the recruiting dance that's developing for his signature is apparently continuing to be a literal one.
Evans, a five-star recruit out of Auburn, Ala. according to Rivals, is ranked No. 14 in the country and No. 3 in the state of Alabama. Because of his local ties, Alabama and Auburn are frontrunners for his signature.
Saturday night was Evans' grandfather's 80th birthday party. Since no moment near NSD can be left unrecruited, coaches from both schools were in attendance. And they made it to the dance floor, according to Evans' father Alan.
"When we got to the party about eight o'clock it was a packed house at the hotel," Evans told AL.com. "We walked in and the first people we saw was the entire Auburn staff standing there on our left and to my right was Kirby Smart and the Bama staff. I was like 'This has never happened in Auburn before and probably never will again.'"As we went in, we were pulled left and right all night from Auburn to Bama. The coaches shook hands and talked but you could tell they were there for one thing and one thing only. Then the live band started playing and the Alabama and Auburn coaches hit the dance floor. It was unbelievable. I just couldn't stop laughing."
Earlier in January, when Evans was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama coach Nick Saban hosted a gathering for recruits at his house where he did the Electric Slide and new Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin showed off his singing skills.
Alan Evans said that Auburn coach Gus Malzahn was in attendance Saturday night, but there's no word if Malzahn did the "YMCA" in an attempt to outdance Saban.
Don't you think we should have a dance-off to determine where Rashaan Evans signs on Wednesday? Birds and other animals have been doing dances for years to show off their prowess. It only makes sense that the practice has moved into the recruiting realm.
