Colorado will have another coach's son playing football in 2015.
Jay MacIntyre, the son of coach Mike MacIntyre, signed his National Letter of Intent with Colorado on Wednesday. Naturally, Jay played quarterback in high school, but he'll likely be switching positions when he arrives on campus.
Jay told me he's aware of former father-son duo at Colorado, and with a laugh, assured me he won be playing QB.

Jay is a three-star prospect according to Rivals and the No. 10 recruit in the state of Colorado. He's listed at 5-foot-10 and 178 pounds and as an athlete. His dad Mike was hired before the 2013 season at Colorado from San Jose State.
The laugh in Jay MacIntyre's comment above is because of Dan and Cody Hawkins. While Dan Hawkins, now an analyst for ESPN, was the coach of Colorado, son Cody played quarterback. In 2007, Cody Hawkins won the starting quarterback job as a redshirt freshman as Colorado went to the Independence Bowl. However, that ended up being the highlight of his college career as he never started for a full season after that.
But because he played for parts of four seasons, Cody Hawkins is Colorado's all-time leading passer in attempts, completions, yards, touchdown passes and interceptions. Midway through his fifth season and Cody's senior season in 2010, Dan Hawkins was fired as Colorado's coach with a record of 19-39 at the school.
And since we're channeling the Hawkins family, we figure now is as good a time as any to remind Jay and any Colorado recruit that it's Division I football. It ain't intramurals.
