University of Colorado defensive back Jeffrey Hall had to be shocked with a Taser when he resisted police after being arrested over the weekend for allegedly choking a woman at a party.

According to the Daily Camera, the 19-year-old Hall was arrested at 12:17 a.m. Saturday on suspicion of second-degree assault on a police officer, second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction of a police possession of alcohol by a minor.

As a result of the incident, Colorado sports information director Dave Plati said Tuesday that head coach Mike MacIntyre suspended Hall indefinitely.

Police records state that officers received complaints of a loud party. After arriving on the scene, officers said a woman, identified as Adrienne Lettow, a former member of the Colorado track and field team, came out of the house and said a man “choked her out.”

Two officers continued to speak to Lettow in the garage when Hall and fellow CU football player Chibode Awuzie came out of the house. Then things got messier.

Per the Camera:

Officers said Hall began to rapidly approach Lettow and "appeared to want to physically harm Lettow," while Awuzie tried to restrain him, according to the report.

Two officers pulled their Tasers and told Hall and Awuzie to sit down multiple times before they complied. Officers said Hall began making comments about "(expletive) pigs" and how the police were targeting black men.

According to the report, Lettow made a comment to Hall to the effect of "that's what you get," and Hall started yelling at her then got up and lunged at her.

Three officers tried to get Hall back to the ground, but he continued to resist and began to punch and swing his arms at the officers. A fourth officer then deployed his Taser on Hall in the leg and then pressed the Taser against Hall's leg a second time when he failed to comply.

The officers were able to get Hall into handcuffs, but one of them, Officer John Smyly, was hit in the head and received a scratch while trying to subdue Hall.

Lettow told police that Hall “grabbed her by the neck with his left hand and choked her until she dropped to her knees and her vision began to ‘go black.’” Witnesses got Hall’s hands off her neck and she never lost consciousness. She then went outside where police arrived due to the noise complaint.

Several witnesses at the party said they saw Hall choke Lettow and officers reported that Lettow had “red marks on her neck.”

Hall, who played in all 12 games for the Buffs as a sophomore, was booked into Boulder County Jail and is currently free on bond.
