Top running back recruit Soso Jamabo has officially enrolled at UCLA.
Jamabo was arrested on prom night in April for trying to evade police in a vehicle. According to a statement from Kemp, Texas police chief Robert Walker, Jamabo was driving a Ford pickup at a high rate of speed and was endangering other people on the road as well as the passengers in the car. Those passengers were throwing objects from the windows of the vehicle.
The three occupants of the vehicle were cited and released while Jamabo was arrested.
UCLA coach Jim Mora did not comment on Jamabo’s status at the time, but did tell the Rich Eisen Show on April 27 that he believed Jamabo was a young man of high character that made a mistake.
“I’m sure there were some less-than-great decisions being made,” he said. “I can tell you he’s a great kid. He’s a wonderful kid. He hadn’t had any problems in the past. I support him. We support him. But we have to leave it up to the authorities to decide what the process is going to be.
“I think one thing that it does is that it taught our kids on our team a great lesson: No matter who you are, where you are — if you’re a college athlete, a professional athlete, you are under the spotlight. You are under scrutiny at all times.” Jamabo was never indicted following his arrest and it’s unclear whether he’ll face any discipline at UCLA.

But as it stands, UCLA running back situation just got a whole lot better. Jamabo was a five-star running back out of Plano, Texas. He was the top recruit in the state and the No. 4 running back in the country. For more UCLA news, visit BruinSportsReport.com.
