A few months after Dennis Norfleet was taken off Michigan’s football roster, the speedy wideout has found a new school.
Norfleet is now officially listed on the roster of Tuskegee University, a Division II program in Alabama. Per Mlive.com, a university spokesman confirmed earlier this week that Norfleet is enrolled and took part in team meetings on Tuesday.
Norfleet’s high school coach said in May that Norfleet was dismissed from the program by head coach Jim Harbaugh toward the end of spring practice. However, other reports indicated that Norfleet was suspended, not dismissed.
Harbaugh said last month that Norfleet was given a chance to work his way back onto the team and graduate from the university, but Norfleet opted to pursue other options.
"A plan was put in place, I've had conversations with him over the summer," Harbaugh said late last month per Mlive. "And if (things have) changed, you'd have to talk to Dennis.
"A plan was put into place. It's our desire that he remains at Michigan and gets his Michigan degree. ... We came to a plan, and (he agreed) to it. Our expectation hasn't changed.”
The 5-foot-7, 168-pound Norfleet, a Detroit native, is Michigan’s all-time leader in kick return yards (2,203). He also caught 21 passes for 157 yards and rushed for 130 yards on 15 carries during his Michigan career.
Since Tuskegee is a Division II program, Norfleet, a senior, won’t have to sit out a year.
