Former Kansas State and current Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson will have his name on Kansas State's new locker room.

The locker room will be named the Nelson Family Locker Room for Nelson and his wife Emily after a donation from the family to the university. Kansas State said it now has gotten $8 million in pledges towards its $15 million goal for the current phase of renovations to Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

"We appreciate Jordy and Emily’s loyalty and generosity to K-State Athletics and our goal of providing a World-Class Student-Athlete Experience,” Kansas State athletic director John Currie said in a statement. “Jordy and Emily are model K-Staters and for them to graciously give to enhance the experience of Wildcat student-athletes and fans is a true testament to their passion and love for K-State.”

The school had recently unveiled the new Vanier Family Football Complex to players.

Jordy Nelson is from Riley, Kansas. It's not far at all from Manhattan, where Kansas State is located.

“Kansas State University and K-State Football have meant so much to our family and continue to be a big part of our lives,” the Nelsons said in a statement. “The Manhattan and Riley County communities are home for us, and giving back to the program and university that have afforded us the opportunities that we now have was very important to us, so that student-athletes, fans and the entire K-State Family can continue to have the success they deserve.”

Nelson came to Kansas State as a walk-on and started playing defense. He became one of the best wide receivers in the country and had 122 catches for 1,606 yards as a senior in 2007 before he was drafted in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft by the Packers.

The improvements to Kansas State's facilities are part of a $195 million project for all of the school's sports teams.
