Clemson center Ryan Norton will miss Saturday’s game against Louisville after suffering an injured MCL during Monday’s practice.
Coach Dabo Swinney told media Tuesday that Norton was "rolled up on” during practice, but that trainer Danny Poole didn’t believe Norton would need surgery.
Swinney did not say how long Norton would be sidelined.
Norton gained some notoriety last month after bench pressing 640 pounds with his teammates cheering him on.
Jay Guillermo will get his second career start in Norton’s absence. His first start came in 2014 against South Carolina State. Guillermo missed four months this offseason, including all of spring football, while battling depression and anxiety. He returned to the program in July.
Norton already has missed time in both of the Tigers’ 2015 games with leg injuries, which has allowed Guillermo to play 90 snaps this season.
