A North Dakota player was dismissed from the team Monday after he allegedly stole two Nike accessories from a sporting goods store while wearing his jersey.

According to the Grand Forks Herald, Iverson was identified from surveillance footage inside the store.

Iverson was identified as the suspect in the incident after reporting party and Scheels employee Derek Trom discovered two opened, empty Nike Dri-fit bicep band packages, valued at about $8 each, according to the affidavit.

Trom reviewed video surveillance footage and discovered the items had been stolen. Trom said he observed Iverson, whom Trom identified because he was wearing a UND football jersey, open the packages, remove the items, conceal them in his pants pocket and leave the store without attempting to pay for the items, the affidavit says.

He was summoned to appear in court on October 2 on Wednesday. The accusations weren't public at the time of his dismissal. Iverson was a junior fullback. Losing your spot on the team because of two $8 armbands is brutal. Just pay for them if you want them so badly.

“We were made aware today of a legal situation involving Dustin Iverson and after reviewing all available information at this time, we have made the decision to dismiss him from the football team effective immediately for actions detrimental to our program and the university,” A statement from coach Bubba Schweigert said.

The Herald also said he was ID'd after he came back into the store on Friday.

He hadn't played in the first two games of 2015 because of a previous suspension and saw time in the third game of the season against North Dakota State.
