First, he confirmed that sophomore safety Erick Smith will miss the rest of the season. According to Eleven Warriors, Meyer mentioned a few weeks ago that Smith had an “ACL injury,” but did not confirm the severity until Tuesday.

Smith has been the Buckeyes’ third safety throughout the season and has also had a heavy presence on special teams. Overall, Smith tallied six tackles in six games played this season. Smith also had 13 tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery as a freshman in 2014.

The Buckeyes previously lost junior safety Cam Burrows to a season-ending foot injury in October.

Additionally, Meyer announced that sophomore cornerback Damon Webb has been reinstated from suspension. Webb had been suspended since September for violating athletic department policy, but returned to practice on Monday.

His suspension was announced before the start of OSU’s Sept. 19 win over Northern Illinois.

Webb started at nickel cornerback in OSU’s first two games and totaled eight tackles. He played mainly on special teams in 2014 as a freshman.

Coming off a bye, the Buckeyes host 4-4 Minnesota on Saturday
