Georgia wide receiver Chris Conley doesn’t fit the typical stereotype of a football player. He is the Bulldogs’ leading receiver, but he is also a self-described nerd who is organizing Star Wars lightsaber duels on Georgia’s campus. He also plans to film them.
Seriously.
Conley has loved Star Wars since he was a kid, so he sent out two tweets on Nov. 18 looking for other Star Wars fans on campus to assist him with his project.
Looking for fellow film or Star Wars fans on campus. I'm thinking of filming a light saber duel around campus. #EpicDuel #CallingAllNerds

So if you know anyone who likes that sort of thing or who wouldn't mind doing some filming or acting tell them to tweet me!!!! — Chris Conley (@_Flight_31) November 18, 2013
Luckily for Conley, he received plenty of responses.
“I’ve actually had a lot of response,” Conley told the Athens Banner-Herald. “A lot of people really want to do this. It’s something I’m kind of spearheading. It’s been a goal of mine before I graduate. This is just for me, just for fun. All of the people who are involved like that sort of thing and we accept our nerdiness.”
With the help of UGA football videographer Frank Martin, Conley is in the planning stages of production. He even held a pre-production meeting.
Very successful pre-production meeting for the saber video. This is gonna be nice

Conley is still finalizing the details on where the duels will be shot and how many people will participate.
“I've yet to decide how many people are going to be dueling yet,” Conley said. “I definitely want to be one of them. We’ve got to get that together. We've got to choreograph the whole thing. It’s going to take a little while to practice and film.”
Now I don't necessarily consider myself a Star Wars fan, but who can't get into light saber duels? I know I can and now I'm definitely looking forward to the release of Conley's video.
